Crafty Holiday 2014: Day 7 – Making Cards & Jewellery – & Dad Comes Down To Stay!

Hi All!
As my App didn’t want to work while I was on hols the last two week (& I spent ages writing the posts up too!!) thought I’d post them now I’m home. Will post one or two a day for the next week or two, giving me time to recover!!
Anyway, enjoy, and talk soon!

Ps please excuse the images not all being of greatest quality, was using my iPad to take and edit them. Now I’m home will see if can improve them for the roundup post at the end, and the tutorials to follow, but wanted to post these as they were done.

Hi all!
It’s my seventh full day on holiday, and a bit of an exciting one for me as my dad comes down to join me this afternoon! I’m writing this just after lunch, as I want to make the most of my evening with him, and he’s due to get here around 1630 – he’s coming down by train, and I’m picking him up from the station. I do enjoy my time alone, and I’ve enjoyed my week so far, but I’m also looking forward to spending some time with just me and my dad too!
Anyway, this morning I went to a cardmaking session, and actually made 7 cards! They’re all done using the same technique – a transfer is applied to a piece of acetate, then glass paints (either liquid ones or, as I used, pens (so much quicker and less messy!! Only downside being the reduced number of colours available)) are used to colour the image in. Once they’re dried, the images are then stuck into cards that have got appropriate sized and shaped apertures cut into them, which will allow the light to shine through and show the pretty effect off. I painted the images, but as they’re still drying, they’ve not been stuck in yet. I think my favourite one’s the elephants – I’m quite chuffed with the sunset effect I achieved, even if I do say so myself!!
After lunch, I had a brief session making jewellery, and made two pairs of earrings. They’re ones I’d brought the design with me to make if I got stuck for ideas – it’s from The Bead Shop, and I love the iridescent blue hearts at the top, though I found the little dangly beads a bit fiddly to work with. A tutorial for these will follow after I’m home.
Anyway, I’m off for a quick lie down before collecting my dad. So excited!!
Speak soon!
